Berkshire Natural Resources Council works to protect and preserve the natural resource and environmental character of Berkshire County for public enjoyment. The Council pursues this mission by acquiring land in fee simple, and by working with landowners to protect their property with conservation restrictions. The Council gives particular attention to the protection of farmland, wildlife habitat, scenic lands, and land which offers opportunity for public recreation.
Since the mid-1980s, the Resources Council has helped eleven towns form their own land trusts, and is pleased to provide ongoing cooperative assistance to these local partners. In addition, the Council works in partnership with the state departments of Food and Agriculture, Fisheries and Wildlife and Environmental Management on both land protection and public policy efforts. The Resources Council was founded in 1967, and has participated in the protection of over 25,000 acres. Inquires to the Resources Council are confidential and without obligation.
