The Hamilton Wenham Open Land Trust was formed in 1985 as a nonprofit, tax exempt (501(c)3) corporation. The primary focus of the land trust is protection of open space in Hamilton and Wenham by acquiring land and conservation easements. Trust income is from annual dues and small grants. Contributions of land and money are tax exempt under IRS regulations.
Properties are maintained in their natural state for conservation purposes. Passive recreation uses such as cross county skiing, walking, birding, or horseback riding are permitted where appropriate and would not adversely impact conservation functions and values. Currently we are facilitating the Town of Hamiltons purchase of the 160-acre Gordon Woods property.
