The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) has created a new “PLPA Portal” on the webpage that it maintains to provide information for those concerned with proposed diversion of public parks and conservation land to another use. The webpage includes guidance for how to comply with An Act conserving open space in the Commonwealth (commonly referred to as the Public Lands Preservation Act, or 'PLPA'). Those seeking to change the use of land subject to Article 97 protections are instructed to use the new Portal to submit materials for EEA’s review under provisions of the law. MLTC now awaits launch of the “PLPA Tracker”, which will provide public access to information on such submissions, and updates on status of any EEA review or legislative action on the proposals.
